United Nations, May 14 (Reporter Wang Jiangang) Chinese Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Geng Shuang said on the 14th that China will continue to uphold an objective and fair stance, maintain communication with relevant parties, and make unremitting efforts to resolve the Ukraine crisis politically.
Geng Shuang said when the Security Council reviewed the Ukraine issue that the crisis in Ukraine is still ongoing. Recently, ground conflicts have intensified, and vicious attacks causing serious casualties and humanitarian impact occur from time to time. China is deeply concerned about this. In response to the protracted war in Ukraine and the increasingly severe humanitarian situation, China has repeatedly called on all parties to the conflict to exercise rational restraint, strictly abide by international humanitarian law, and avoid attacking civilians and civilian infrastructure.
Geng Shuang said that China plays a constructive role in promoting the political resolution of the crisis and puts forward four imperatives for the political settlement of the Ukraine crisis, that is, the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries should be respected, the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter should be observed, and the legitimate security concerns of all countries should be taken seriously, and all efforts conducive to the peaceful resolution of the crisis should be supported.
Geng Shuang said that history has repeatedly proved that any conflict can only be resolved through negotiations, and military means cannot bring lasting peace, and the Ukraine crisis is no exception. China calls on the parties to the conflict to resume dialogue and contact as soon as possible, jointly promote the cooling of the situation, and calls on the international community to create conditions for a ceasefire and cessation of war as soon as possible.
